Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asserted that Gaza constitutes an "integral part" of the State of Palestine during discussions with Jake Sullivan, a senior U.S. official. The meeting occurred at Abbas's West Bank headquarters as Israel continued its offensive in Gaza, prompting widespread international appeals for restraint.

Abbas conveyed to Sullivan that any attempts to isolate or separate Gaza from the Palestinian state were unacceptable. He underscored the need to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression, particularly addressing the severe impact on the Palestinian population in Gaza.

The U.S. has been a key supporter of Israel but has recently voiced increasing concerns over civilian casualties and the long-term plan for Gaza. Sullivan's regional visit included meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

While the U.S. has supported Israel's response to attacks from Hamas, its stance is evolving amid growing concerns about the humanitarian toll and the broader implications for the future of Gaza.
